About the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases
Sub Specialties
Esophageal Disease
Esophageal Diseases includes gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Barrett's esophagus, esophageal cancer and esophageal motility disorders. All esophageal diseases affect the esophagus, the muscular tube that connects the throat with the stomach.
Our gastroenterologists that specialize in esophageal diseases use the most cutting-edge diagnostic tools and therapeutic treatments. These include a range of minimally invasive surgical procedures such as endoscopic mucosal resection. Further diagnostic tools used by our esophageal experts includes high-resolution mannometry to assess motility disorders, BRAVO pH capsules and pH probe studies for reflux diagnosis and radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of Barrett’s esophagus with dysplasia.
