The Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and the Medical Center have long been recognized as national and world leaders in clinical care, research, and education, and continue to develop innovative solutions to many of the challenges facing the medical community. The faculty of the Department of Medicine has a tradition of involvement in house staff education and considers the residency training program as the center of its activities. The clinical training you will receive, the friendships and mentoring that will develop, and the bonds that will form between you and your patients will complete the transition from "student" to "physician" that you have already begun.
